Packing For Your Canal Boat Holiday
* Get the clothes right! Make sure you're comfortable come rain or shine- bring warm clothes (even in summer) and waterproofs (even when the weatherman says it won't rain). This is wonderful unpredictable Britain- come prepared!
* Accessorize... The best accessories you could possibly bring are sturdy waterproof shoes that can withstand a little towpath mud! Co-ordinating handbags are not an essential part of a barge hire checklist- but a hat to keep the sun off your face is well worth a place in your case.
* Bring everything but the kitchen sink? Not at all! Nearly everything you need will be waiting for you on board your barge. You'll have a kitchen that's all ready to go- with pots, pans, a microwave, fridge, plates etc. It's a good idea to bring some basic food with you, although our marina staff can point out the shops along your chosen map route when you arrive. We even provide the washing up liquid.
* Something to relax with... Your barge hire holiday will give you the perfect chance to lie back and take it easy. Bring a novel to lay back with, some CDs to chill out to and a few beers to pop in the fridge.
* Something to get you out and about... A barge hire holiday is all about enjoying your surroundings- on and off the boat. When you feel like mooring your boat it's great to have some options, no matter where you are. Bring a frisbee, a kite, your bike or your fishing rods.
* Something indulgent... A little champagne and a few chocolates are the least you deserve! Holidays are for enjoying the best things in life, after all.
